DAVID HOCKNEY

David Hockney, considered one of the most important British artists of the 20th century, will be our favourite painter during this term.

This project has been inspired by the Hockney exhibition: 

 " David Hockney: A Bigger Picture ".

Working with different techniques, the children will make artworks from Hockney`s landscapes paintings, using pieces of fabric, papers, paint, crayons, feltpens...

PANCAKE DAY

In Britain, Pancake Day is also known as Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. Traditionally, it was a day of fun and feasting before the 40 days of Lent. 
It´s the day when pancakes are eaten and when people celebrate the Pancake races.
How to make pancakes for Pancake Day

Pancake-racing is one of the more unlikely events on the British sporting calendar and takes place in many towns and villages each Shrove Tuesday.  The skill lies not so much in the running of the race but in flipping - and catching - the pancake, which must be intact when the finishing line is reached. 

VALENTINE'S DAY

Every 14th February we celebrate Valentine's Day by giving flowers, candy and cards to those we love. In our classes, we have made hearts with papers, plasticine, beads...as Valentine gifts for our family and friends.

Llevo todo el curso para hacer este post y por fin encuentro un momento. 

Desde el pasado septiembre estoy en una nueva escuela en Logroño: el CEIP "Duquesa de la Victoria". Después de tantos años en el CRA Moncalvillo enseñando inglés, el cambio ha sido bastante grande. Ahora estoy trabajando en el primer ciclo de tutora, así que he comenzado un nuevo blog http://primercicloduquesa.blogspot.com y he dejado este rinconcito... por el momento.

¡Nos vemos en el Duquesa!, y de despedida un pequeño homenaje a la Escuela Pública y a todos los que estamos ahí.

OUR TRIP DIARY

Writing the diary is not easy for a primary 3 and 4 children, so they had a template where they had just to change some information about the different countries and cities. They had to look for the information in the wikipedia. Every time we got a new destination they had to write a postcard to their families or friends.
